April

Dia Del Niño/ Day of the Child

Family event held at Unity Junior High School in celebration of the International Day of the Child in Cicero. It is an observance to promote fundamental rights and objectives of children’s welfare. This event also includes festivities filled with face painting, story tellers, book reading, games, arts & crafts, music, refreshments, and children’s shows. Its a variety of activities for the whole family. This event is in partnership and support with Cicero Public Schools, and Morton College.

Cinco de Mayo in Cicero

It is also considered one of the largest four day festivals in the Midwestern Unite States. Over 70,000 in attendance. Food, live music, carnival rides and a lot of family fun. This event is also cover by main news media. In addition of the festival, The CMCC/CCMC organizes a youth soccer tournament. (The Cinco de Mayo President’s Cup) This tournament is sponsored by Unity Junior High School, the Cicero Clyde Park District, and the Cicero Hawthorn Park District.

The Senorita Miss Cicero Scholarship

Not just a pageant, but a journey and a commitment to serve her community all year round. Probably the most elegant and popular event in the Town of Cicero where every year a young lady has a chance to compete for the Senorita Miss Cicero Crown Title. Contestants focus on poise, presentation, confidence, style and talent. For the final evening gown competition, each contestant is escorted by the United States Marines giving a touch of class. This program is designed to motivate and empower young ladies in public service. The winner serves as an ambassador for her community throughout her reign, and in addition represents the Mexican community during the Fiestas Patrias & Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Winners of the competition have the opportunity to compete for the Miss Illinois Title and represent the Town of Cicero in the Statewide competition.

Dia de los Muertos

An ancient Mexican tradition celebrating and honoring the lives of deceased family members and friends. The CCMC partners with Casa Guanajuato & the Guanajuato Federation to host an artist from the State of Guanajuato Institute of Art to work with students on art projects. This event involves District 201 students from Morton High School’s Culinary Program where students prepare traditional “Pan de Muerto” Day of the dead bread, the Cicero Public Library and District 99 Cicero Public Schools on November 1st & 2nd.

Christmas Posada

One of the most popular holiday events in Cicero, sponsored by the Cicero Clyde Park District and held at the Cicero Stadium. It is the traditional reenactment of Mary & Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. Local churches, businesses, and schools are a part of the festivities. The Cicero Christmas Posada is filled with great holiday music, candy, an assortment of holiday treats, refreshment, and traditional hot Mexican Christmas punch. Every child receives a toy, thanks to the support from the Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade organization. La Posada is supported by The Town of Cicero, District 99 and local businesses
